picked my poison

"I can't sleep." There's a bug inside my head and it's irritating.

I'm so ashamed of myself. I guess I deserve to be drop kicked as well. I feel so stupid right now. I feel like I'm the most terrible person there is.

Goodness, it really is painful, but the silent treatment I'm giving to Kagura-san might be the solution for her to stop. Kagura-neechan really is persistent. But, I wanted to tell her that I'm no match and that she's a better person than I am. Although, she doesn't listen. I'm too embarrassed to see her. After all I've done?

"THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!" I tell you! How does she do it?

I don't want her to get hurt anymore. We're not meant to be. I don't deserve such treatment. I don't deserve such love. She's the best and I'm the worst. So, we're really off a by a thousand miles.

"I feel an impression that I'm giving pathetic excuses." But I can't return her love. It would only hurt her more.

I don't want her to get hurt anymore. I'll just be quiet and avoid her in anyway possible. Yes, it'll hurt her but I wish she'd understand. There's only one way to find out.

memory selection

"Look it's not a problem. We already did this last time. Don't worry yourself. We should be happy welcoming the New Year." I explained to her.

We've protested. That damn rat and I finally agreed on something -- we're not going to the Sohma house again.

"No! We're not going to the Sohma house! We're staying put." we yelled at him like a scalded dog.

"Suit yourself." smiles Shigure-san and left.

We've decided to stay with Tohru-kun. I can't stand it leaving her alone. It's not right you know. Even I, baka neko, know. This time, we're making sure not to work the same mistakes.

"Are you sure you two are not going? I hope I'm not getting you into any trouble." worried Tohru-kun

I told Tohru-kun "We did this the last time and nothing bad happened, right?"

"Sorta." answered Yuki-kun. I guess he's right. I still remember that incident.

That incident... it still haunts me. It was my worst nightmare that appeared before my eyes. I spaced out for five minutes. Tohru-kun looked at me:

"Kyo-kun? Daijobou?" she asked.

"Ah, it's nothing... It's nothing." What if it happens again? Will she take it for granted?

We didn't sleep. We stayed up to welcome the New Year. I had a deep conversation with Tohru-kun and a much shallow one with the damn rat. Besides, what he's talking about is not important.

For no reason, I felt the need for some fresh air. So I decided to go outside. When I opened the door:

"How are you Kyo-kun?"

"Yo."

"AAAH! Hana-chan! Uo-chan! At this time of night?! What are you two doing here?"

Of all things good in this world, what in the were they doing? It's 2AM and both Hana-chan and Uo-chan showed up.

They told me that they were checking up on Tohru-kun. They don't like Tohru-kun to be alone this New Year so they've decided to drop by. Can't the two of them see that she's with the two of us -- that is Yuki and me? No, they were only making sure and who can blame them? I can see that they really care for this girl.

"Gomen, Tohru-kun, Kyon-Kyon, Prince Yuki." excused Hana-chan

"Sorry for the interruption, Tohru-kun. But Hana-chan thought that it would be a good idea to drop by. She's just making sure that Tohru-kun is not alone." said Uo-chan

"Ahh, arigato gozaimasu. I'm touched that both of you were worried -- utmost touched. Don't worry, Yuki-kun and Kyo-kun were here with me all the time. We were just playing Bluff, but now we can play Rich-Man-Poor-Man." delighted Tohru-kun. "Ano, Hana-chan. Haven't you celebrated the New Year with your family?" asked Tohru-kun

"Yes, I did. After that they went straight to bed. But I snuck out and gave them a note telling that I would visit a friend and come back in the morning." explained Hana-chan

"How about you, Uo-chan?" asked Yuki-kun Uo-chan since Hana-chan's left out of the picture.

"Yeah, we lit some fireworks. After that, Hana-chan dropped by and asked me to go with her."

"Sou desu ka." replied Yuki-kun. "Let's play rich-man-poor-man, then" exclaimed Yuki.

After all the commotion. We played rich-man-poor-man. It was a happy game at first but the succeeding games were frustrating. I was the ultimate loser. My enthusiasm to go on and win was fading.

The last game was life-giving. I saw Tohru-kun put a very low card. Low enough for me to notice.

"Did you do that on purpose?" I asked her because it seemed like it.

"Hah? No, I didn't." she answered.

It was almost dawn, so I hurriedly went upstairs and through the roof. The four of them followed. It was almost time. The time for a new beginning was coming.

Any minute now... And then, HAPPY NEW YEAR! We welcome the New Year with open arms.

Kyo is the cat or outcast of the zodiac. Whenever he embraces a person of the opposite gender, he transforms into a cat. Kyo is really sensitive, so it is easy to get him pissed off. Whenever he loses his temper, he says mean things without thinking about what he's saying.

Kyo is also really competitive with Yuki. He will get in a fist fight or argument, but Yuki always beats him or has a comeback. He even has to live with Yuki.

Both of them have a crush on their housekeeper, Tohru, which leads to a lot of problems in their house.
